In Week 4 we looked at the the fairy tale, " The Gingerbread Man". The children made their own gingerbread man . Unfortunately they escaped from the oven when we weren't looking. The children looked all over the school. The chickens and Wilko the dog had not seen them. Luckily Mrs Sweeny found them in the shed and put them back into the classroom.
We practiced the formations of numbers 1-3 as we put real buttons on our gingerbread men drawings.
We are learning to read our numbers without counting. The song this 'Old Man' (Sorry Dads) was a big hit and enabled the children to explore our bigger numbers to 10. The number formations of six and nine are always tricky.
We focused on our Dad's to celebrate Father's day coming up.
We practiced our running races for sport's day
We focused on the Letter sounds Dd for dad, Ee for egg and Hh for hat.
We had an egg and spoon race
We finally had enough egg cartoons and boxes for box construction. The children made speed boats, cars, houses, jets and were very creative in their master pieces.
We enjoyed our new wooden perspex blocks.
We did some floating and sinking to learn about heavy objects and light objects. It was a real mystery about who sank the boat in the story? in the story "who sank the boat" by Pamela Allen.
