Thank you to the Parent Reps in each class for sending out emails and getting the facebook page up and running. Please pass on your preferred email to Tash in Kindy Red or Emma in Kindy Blue if you haven't done so yet.

I love the school OLC Easter raffle! Very exciting for the children.

Gathering time

Morning Parents!   Welcome to Week 3. Wow it's flying by. Hope everyone is receiving their little snapshots on Seesaw.

Just wanted to say thank you all for being supportive with COVID protocols. Some rules are just not fair when it comes to our little ones. I want to say that all parents are welcome to stay a little while outside for gathering time with their masks if they feel that's the best for your child. Your child can choose a game or show you some tricks out on the playground. Don't feel you have to kiss and drop.

This week, our learning will be centered around the Nursery Rhyme " Baa Baa black sheep". Also on Monday's we focus on an " all about me theme" and Mrs Alison Martin gets to take the class to library which is exciting as the children get to visit the chickens on the way.

Hope you all have a lovely week.

SEESAW COMES TO KINDY

Following up from the email all parents received...

A new platform for sharing what's been happening in Kindy is ready for you.

We welcome the Seesaw  family app.

Seesaw is a great digital platform for parents to see the learning given to you by your classroom teacher in the form of messages, work samples and photos. You can access the information through your phone.

Parents will receive their child's learning code by a hard copy.

Then you  scan the QR code to access your child's individual learning journal.  I also highly recommend you click 'yes' to the notifications prompt as then you will be sent a reminder each time there is something new uploaded. I am hoping to try to share something at least each week or fortnightly to show the great learning that is happening in our classrooms. This sometimes cannot always happen during a busy Kindy week.

1:Go to  seesaw website https://web.seesaw.me/ or install the seesaw family app for IOS or Android

2:  Choose create family account

SCAN CODE

Create Account with a password

Then you can go to their Journal

You can also press on inbox to see what other information the classroom teacher has posted.

You know where I am if you have any queries all we can go through the app during gathering time in the coming weeks.

Welcome Welcome to our Kindy Blog for 2022

 Dear Kindy Parents/carers/guardians,

That special time in your child's life is finally here.. Kindy here we come!

Let me introduce myself again after this wonderful, long and hot summer. Hi my name is Miss Katie Horrocks. I  will be your child's classroom teacher this year for 2022. I have been at this beautiful school for 11 years and there is no other place than Dunsborough I want to call home.  I love the beach and doing exercise. I play community sport and I'm a bit of an Eagles football fan. I enjoy the simple things in life like coffee, walking my puppy Billy along the foreshore and dinner picnics down at the curry van situated near the Dunsborough boat ramp. I'm busy being an Aunty to 6 niece and nephews all up. I am one big kid myself and I hope that every child that enters my room bounces off my happy and vibrant energy.

It is with great excitement that we welcome you and your child to Kindergarten for 2022. We are looking forward to a happy and fun filled year of new learning and exploring. I hope you all had a relaxing holiday enjoying the summer weather and making precious family memories. I am looking forward to getting to know your gorgeous children and working with you very soon.

Dear Kindy kid-

“You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!”

  • School begins for you child on Monday the 31st of January for Kindy Blue. Wednesday the 2nd of February for Kindy Red.  We are beginning with offering a full day, however, if your child requires a half day for the first week or so then that's also an option. If this is the case for your child, pick up will be at 12.30pm.
  • Bell TimesπŸ””
Doors open/gathering time: 8:45am - 9.10am (This is the time that your child will settle in and follow morning routines.

    Mat time: around 9am
    Recess/play: 10:30am - 11:00am
    Lunch/play: 12:30pm - 1:40pm

End of School Day: 3:00pm. Pick up outside the Kindy room.

  • When you arrive, please hang your child's bag on the hooks on the outside verandah next to their name. Its always a great idea if the child does all their jobs for themself. Child can bring in with them their:
  • - Hat
    -Drink bottle 🍎
-Fruit container. Lunch box will stay in their bag.
These belongings will be going into their own name tray. Just a reminder that every item must be labelled.
  • Please pack a small container with morning tea in it. (Fruit, crackers, cheese etc) and a larger separate lunch box with their main lunch in it for their full day.  Please note we are a nut allergy friendly school. Please do not pack nuts or any nut butters. Students are not allowed to share their food.
  • Each child must have a water bottle.  Please label it. Place the water bottle on the shelf inside.
  • We suggest that you pack a spare set of underwear and pants in case of toileting or water play accidents.  Leave these in the bottom of the school bag.
  • First layer of sunscreen Please! teachers will be able to do a top up during the day.
  • Each child will require a SMALL pillow for rest time.  A small 'cot' pillow will be perfect.
  • A communications diary will be placed on the drawers near the entrance door.  If you are not picking up your child please write in the book to tell us who will be. Any children on bus or pick up lane must also be entered into the communication diary. If your plans change during the day then please ring the office and leave a message.
  •  Dismissal is 3pm.  If you get held up please ring the office to inform them.
  • Kindy calendar days are on the school website, however, the calendar will be put up on the blog soon.
  • Uniform πŸ‘•: Kindy shirt (optional) and comfortable play clothes, hat, sandals or closed toe shoes.

The first day of Kindy can be quite over -whelming for most children and it is absolutely normal behaviour for your child to have separation anxiety. Please remember that if you are calm and confident then your child will follow your cues. Please keep your child calm and happy before school and try not to be late as this is unsettling for little people. When you arrive show your child where their drawer is, where their water bottle is and where they should hang them. Bring them up to the teachers to say hello and introduce yourselves. Once this is done find a play station to work at.  There will be books to read, games to play and drawing to do. We understand tears are normal and if by any chance your child is distressed after their parents have left, a call will be made home as soon as we can.

I hope you can trust us that your child is in safe and loving hands. All children will need a little time to adjust to this new environment and before the child knows it they will be so busy with play and fun learning with new friends.

If you are worried about separation anxiety then this video by Maggie Dent may be of help.

One piece of homework for everyone- Can your child bring in one family photo for us to put up in our Kindy room to celebrate this new partnership together.

COVID Regulations 😷
Our first morning when you arrive - Our present COVID guidelines welcome adults onto school grounds. If parents enter the classroom, you will need to:

- Sign in using the SafeWA/ ServiceWA app through the QR code located outside of the classroom door.

- Wear a mask at all times.

- If parents don't feel comfortable coming inside the classroom that's perfectly fine. We will meet your child at the door. We all know our young children are very vulnerable at this stage especially entering school for their first time so It's up to parents if they want to kiss and drop or come in for a little while to ensure a successful gathering time. Outside will also be open during this morning time to help with social distancing between parents.

- All through the day we practice regular hygiene through both washing hands and using hand sanitiser before and after eating times, toileting and certain busy play periods. We understand some children may be sensitive to some hand sanitisers. If this is the case, please email us and provide an alternative hand sanitiser in your child’s bag.

Class Blog πŸ’»

This blog will be the main communication for any parent information over the coming year.  Please keep your mobile and email updated with the front office to ensure you receive texts and email communication from us throughout the year. I will be informing you also about Seesaw which will be another platform for seeing snippets of your child's Kindy work and play in progress.

Thats all folks! for now...
