The story of  PUGGLE:

     

We made sourdough echidna's after reading the story 'Puggle'. Did you know a baby echidna is called a puggle? Some of the Kindies saw one during their up north trips.

We played a sorting and counting game with furry friends chocolates. We worked out that we had the most wombats and only one platypus.

                                   We made boomerangs and painted aboriginal symbols on them.

We learnt to respect the animals of our bush just like the aboriginal people do. We listened to many stories about the dream time. 

            We learnt how to be a professional cow milker to finish off our farm theme.

Show and tell Roster

Dear parents,

Drum roll....

The time has come for our favourite activity... NEWS time. Each child will have a go at telling or showing some news. Each child will have a chosen day which is on a fortnightly cycle ( every second week). The  chosen day will remain the same throughout the term.


A hard copy will go out and the rosters are also on this blog.


Please help your child come up with three bits of information about their object- based news or their event-based news.
eg.   When Where What Who 

        When Where What Who colour parts etc.

This is an elephant
I got it from K mart
it is grey
It has a trunk and four legs. It can walk and play in the jungle.

Your child might need a post stick note with some information on it sent in with their news to help support their memory. It's always a good idea to bring in the item in a library bag or a coles bag. 

Please no toy weapons, beanie boos or electronics.

Welcome back to Term 3

Welcome back to Term Three! I hope you all had a lovely holiday and the children are feeling refreshed ready for term 3 ( AKA big Kindy). 

Do you have

- recess

- packed lunch

-  warm clothes

-  drink bottle

- Big smiles for another term of enriched and playful learning. 

 School Drop off  8.30am: 

During Co-vid our beautiful children developed more independence and grew with more confidence, that the School is going to continue with kiss and drop.The doors open at 8.30am but the mat time bell will not ring until 9am. 

As restrictions have eased, parents are now welcome on the school grounds.  I'm happy for the parents to come into Kindy briefly, watch their child sign their name in then say their goodbyes.

Parent Roster: 
A parent roster is back on so please fill in your name on the chart when you would like to come in and spend time with your child and their classmates. Parents  can make the choice to come in from 9am-10.30am or 11.30-1pm.  Keeping in mind, we have specialty classes at 9.40am from Tuesday to Friday so if you choose the early morning session, parents need to stay behind to help the class teacher instead. 

What's On This Term?

This term we are stepping into a magical learning land full of fairy tales and make -believe story characters. 

Fairy Garden: 

We will keep adding to this as we go along. There is even some letters hidden in the garden to help with our letter  recall and recognition skills. 

Reading Cubby House:

full of  popular fairy tales. Watch Out! for the big bad wolf. 

Storytelling with felt boards

Our Prince and Princess castle:

The Kindies have an important job in the palace to look after the treasure. I wonder what other make believe play they will create in this centre?

In maths, we will continue to practise our recognition and printing of our numbers 1-10. Where ever the children go they can see them in our classroom environment. 

Our fairy tale stories will help us with exploring concepts about measurement- long, tall, heavy, light, big and small. I wonder how tall Jack's beanstalk was? I wonder what ingredients we need to measure to make a gingerbread man? What size Billy Goat Gruff crossed the bridge first? What size bowl did Mother bear have?

Our castles and The Three Little Pig houses will help us explore 3D shapes. 

In literacy, we will of course be focusing on popular fairy tale stories and also continuing with our sound programme. Below are our next set of sounds which  fit in nicely with our fairy tale theme.

What interesting word can your child come up with at home that begins with one of our new letter sounds? Maybe they can bring it in for news. Stay tuned for our Term 3 news telling roster. A hard copy will be sent out and put up on the blog about your child's news day:)

Mission Markets 

Our annual OLC Mission Markets-  celebrating Our Lady of the Cape Feast Day-  are fast approaching (Friday 21st August - Week 5). Please keep an eye on the blog for what our year level will be hosting/ providing for the day 🙏

New student to Kindy Red

First of all Happy 4th birthday to Jaxon and Beau over the weekend. 


We would like to give a big welcome to the Johnston family. Olivia is joining Kindy Red this week. She loves dolls, dinosaurs, playing outside and dancing. Her parents are Sophie and Shane.

Parent teacher Meetings

Dear Parents. 

It's that time of the year where I can catch up with you and inform you of how your child is going in Kindergarten. These meetings are going to run over Weeks 9 and 10 of this term for both Kindy Red and Kindy Blue. They will be approximately 20 minutes long and if  you require more time with me then another time can be organised. 

Outside the Kindy door is a timetable for all parents to fill in what time slot suits them ( best in best dress). 

I haven't included Fridays, but if  you need this day just let me know. Also if you need a later time that's not allocated please let me know as well. 

 If children can be looked after that is always greatly appreciated, however, I understand if they need to come in order for both parents to be present. Some toys will be out if needed.
